Media Portal

Apparently last week the newest version of MediaPortal was released:
Personally, I didn’t notice any real change using my old skin. However, it’s a lways nice when they release a full “stable” version as I have been using the RC for awhile.
On the plus side, I now have MediaPortal able to play all my MKV files without any problems. Before I was having issues with it recognizing multiple audio streams in a single file, instead it would play them all at once. Now I have configured it to use ffdshow correctly, with support for multiple streams. Hooray!
When viewing Videos, I created a custom screen that shows extended information about the highlighted file, including: Genre, Year, Runtime, an Image, and Description.
After some fiddeling around, I found that the new version also fixed one of the display problems I was having. The system used to not initially load data for the default highlighted video when you went to the Videos section. This would force you to have to move the cursor up/down to get it to initially refresh.
I’ve used the system so long that I had just gotten used to it, but the new fix is really nice. Although I find myself quickly pushing up/down when I get to the video screen now still.. hah!
