This is more of a reminder to myself than anything. This week Amazon is having a huge 44-50% off sale on several DVD’s and HD-DVD’s. As I have a few HD-DVD’s now, the following films stood out to me. I may have to peek back at this list this week and pick up a few titles.

• Dune (1984)
• Liar Liar (1997)
• Sneakers (1992)
• Top Gun (1986)
• Serenity (2005)
• Payback - Straight Up (Director’s Cut)

Most notably, I really want Sneakers, Top Gun and Serenity.

All three are great movies. I’ve seen the difference between the Top Gun HD-DVD and normal DVD, and it is HUGE.It makes a bigger difference on some of those older movies, vs. the newer ones on DVD today.

The other three movies would just be nice to have. Payback and Dune are good (though I’m not sure how well those two will benefit from HD) and I’m sure Sonja would enjoy Liar Liar.

Geez, taking a second look, there’s actually a ton of movies I wouldn’t mind picking up: Serenity, Top Gun, Dune, Old School, Casino, MI1, MI2, Payback, Riddick, Sleepy Hollow, Meet Joe Black, Sahara, Trading Places, Midnight Run, Coming to America. They would all be fun movies (for me) at least, but then again that’s over $225 worth of movies!
