Today marks Sonja and I’s one year anniversary. It is almost hard to imagine that an entire year has already gone by, but it has. In fact, it has flown by.
The other day I had a friend point out a funny t-shirt that really sums up marriage for most people. I’ve actually seen this quite a few times, but it still makes me laugh every time I see it. If I had thought of it sooner I would have purchased this to wear today, although I’m sure that would’ve won me a swift punch in the face.
The whole thing reminds me of a conversation I had last week with my boss, who was telling me that for most people the first year of marriage is the hardest. After hearing some of his stories, I feel very fortunate, because our first year had no real complications. In fact, I have no complaints what so ever. We had a great honeymoon, we moved into a beautiful new home, life is good.
I suppose the only unfortunate thing we have is that we were victim to the grandness of a leap-year, so we did not get to enjoy our first anniversary on a Sunday like we should have, and are now celebrating it on a Monday. If all goes well, I hope to be taking off work a bit early today to celebrate our anniversary.

I didn’t. I was very kindly reminded by Sonja of that after I posted. Oops.
My mom bought that shirt for my brother for Christmas before he got married. Then my sister-in-law bought my mom Monster-In-Law as pay-back.
