I ordered the majority of my components from NewEgg for my Windows Home Server. I found a couple good deals at a competing place, Zip Zoom Fly (formerly GoogleGear). The difference wasn’t huge, maybe $50 in total, but as I was trying to build a relatively inexpensive home server, the additional savings made a big difference!

The first shipment of my Windows Home Server build arrived today. Apparently NewEgg is much faster at shipping than ZipZoomFly. I think this mainly is because I ordered on a weekend, and NewEgg processed my request over the weekend, where as ZipZoomFly didn’t process anything until Monday morning. Either way, NewEgg wins.

I have the majority of my build complete. I was at least able to get my case and power supply assembled, and do all of my wiring. A modular power supply makes a HUGE difference in a nice clean setup, which I am hoping will make a big difference in air-flow.

The rest of my parts “should” arrive tomorrow, at least according to FedEx’s shipping statement. I am excited to try installing WHS and see how smoothly that process goes.

So far, I <3 my Seasonic Power Supply.

It is so quiet, I can’t even tell when it is on!
