The concept of Kinetic Typography (or Motion Typography) has been around for quite awhile, however yesterday Dan Christensen had posted a link to a new video made to the Portal - Still Alive song.

The conversation led to several interesting YouTube links:

I had actually seen a really neat one of this a LONG time ago, it took a little bit of researching (mostly becuase I couldn’t recall the name of it), but here it is:

The idea of Kinetic Typography is pretty nifty. I have seen this used in lots of commercials too, I really like it for that. If I felt that I was a little more imaginative, this is something I would try.

I do have to give most of these guys a lot of credit though, the ideas that they come up with for transitions are generally pretty awesome. If only I was a graphic arts major.

    When done well, it’s pretty neat. TBS does a variation as part of their show promos. When it’s not done well, it’s just annoying full-screen subtitles.
