Cirque Mechanics Birdhouse Factory

Tonight our friends Holli and Miles accompanied Mike and I to a wonderful dinner at Touch of Europe and to see Cirque Mechanics Birdhouse Factory at the Washington Pavilion.  The program features characters whom work in a factory and utilize the machinery as circus props.  As you can deduce from the name, the cast is concocted from prior Cirque du Soleil performers.  There were several acts including comedy skits, juggling, rope work, acrobatics, etc., but my favorite acts were the tricks on the trampoline and the tango/contortionist dance.  Each one had some bizarre moves.

A couple of critiques I have are 1) the pre-recorded music did not always have the best pitch over the sound system and 2) the execution of some of the moves, that should have been in sync with other performers, were not.  However, overall, I was very pleased and enjoyed the show.  I’m quite interested in seeing a Cirque du Soleil performance now…

  1. Yeah, they did a good job. Being a smaller, traveling show, it wasn’t at the “level” of Cirque du Soleil, but definitely similar elements.

  2. It was a fun night.

I would say the show was good overall, especially considering it made it to Sioux Falls, even if it was for one night only! :)

Now I want to go to Cirque du Soleil…

  3. You guys are our Classy friends. Up next, the Opera!
