Eventful Weekend

Friday: Friday evening I met up with my friend Lacey to do a bit of shopping.  We checked out a couple boutiques, but quickly decided we couldn’t afford anything there (tank top: $98 – pshh), so we headed to the mall (“Let’s go to the mall!” – How I Met Your Mother).  We weren’t looking for anything in particular but I wound up with a pair of sandals for Mike and myself, a couple of shirts and a pair of Capri’s.  Afterwards we headed to the new Spezia’s for a bite to eat.  I wasn’t a fan of the restaurant when it was on 26th street, but they seem to have changed their menu because I thought it was delicious!  Also, I tried my first Bloody Mary.  It was good, but they are quite zesty, so I couldn’t drink it all.

Saturday: It stormed a bit Friday evening but the weather on Saturday was quite beautiful.  I passed the morning away by meeting up with my friend Annie for breakfast.  In the afternoon Dan, Mike and I hit up the new runners store in Sioux Falls, Runners Block, so they could pick up some new athletic shoes.  From there we went to our friends apartment for a birthday grill out.  Our hostess made kabobs and some awesome pesto pasta salad thing.  We spent a couple of hours with everyone at Nutty’s South and then headed home for our 2nd annual block party.  All of our neighbors pool money together for noise permits, to rent inflatables and to fund a grill out.  Due to our prior engagement we missed the grill out, but came home just in time for the fire pit, music and adult time in the inflatables!  It seems our inebriated neighbors took them over around 10pm. :)   Mike and I did a couple of pass throughs on the race/jungle gym type one.  Dan tried, but had an issue with his socks (“Sock.” – How I Met Your Mother).  After we had our fun we joined the rest of the crowd around the campfire and shot the s*** for four hours.  One of our neighbors, strangely her name is Sonja, made a cocktail consisting of strawberry lemonade, beer and vodka.  It may sound strange… but yum!

Sunday: I went for a run this morning and it felt good.  Mike, Dan and I hit up the Sunday brunch at Granite City and then headed to Best Buy to look at DVD’s.  En route home we stopped by an open house in our neighborhood.  The house looks amazing from the outside so I’d been dying to see it.  There were a few interesting architectural details, but sadly it was a bit dated.  Stopped over to see my friend Annie in the afternoon and then did some house chores with Mike this evening.  We plan to finish off the day with the new episode of True Blood.

Side note: I completed another digital layout this weekend!  It was my first attempt as using a digital template, as well as creating a layout with multiple photos.  I think it turned our rather nicely.  I’ve added it to the gallery on my scrapbooking page.  If you have comments or suggestions you can leave them on the main page, or click on the image and leave them there.
